Inspiration. Crises and Long Walks

When Jackson retired to Blue Lake from a trendy part of LA, it was with the intention of writing full time, "on a good day." What does a writer write, when she thinks she isn't writing? Tiny gems and glimpses into a slower pace, that's what.
Once I get past
- the Medi-Cal crisis
- the refinancing the house/car/van crisis
- the missing, swallowed tooth crisis
- the cataracts growing over the eyeballs crisis
- the teeny caterpillars eating my Brussell sprouts' leaves crisis
THEN I'm going to write something really profound.
I really truly do love it up here. Every time I think I must move back to civilization, I have a weekend like this one where the beauty of this place just hangs on me like tinsel, and I can't imagine being anywhere else.
The beaches here are magnificent, with huge dunes the dog is too lazy to climb. I just strolled through the Blue Lake Cemetery with my camera. That tiny little community alone is enough to make me weep with its tall pines, its melancholy crazy quilt of stones with crypts and fresh/fake flowers.
Today I found a scarecrow along the edge guarding a grave; it's all too mysterious and wonderful over there. And the dog and I get to walk it three times a day. Imagine, just a half block away from our front door. I admit to a few reservations about my dog piddlingpooping on their hallowed ground, but I do try to keep him on paths...and not near any thing remotely square.
But my mind has incredible fanciful leaps during our walks, I have to tell you.
I have got to write something soon...besides e-mail, that is.
I'm a slug.
